Thurlby Fen Restoration Project
The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust acquired land next to its existing Thurlby Fen nature reserve with the intention of converting it from arable farmland to wet fenland habitat with damp grassland, reedbeds, wet ditches and areas of open water. The pair of paintings below were produced to show the existing situation and the intended transformation, for use in consultations, publicity and fundraising for the project.
‘Before’ view, with the site in arable use.
‘Proposed’ view, showing restoration to wet fenland and some of the potential inhabitants.
RSPB Titchwell Reserve:
Following on from my ‘Guidelines for the Provision of Birdwatching Facilities in the North Norfolk Coast AONB’ I was approached by engineers working for the RSPB on the re-design of the sea wall and lagoons at Titchwell in response to rising sea levels. Working with Haysom Ward Miller Architects in Cambridge, I prepared this aerial perspective of their proposals for replacement of the Parrinder Hide, which will straddle the new sea wall and offer views over the lagoons and out to sea.
